12/11/2022 0 Comments Lost season 2 episode 15![]() So in the episode that follows, viewers get to spend a few more disquieting moments with a grinning, singing Mr. The revelation that a possessed Leland killed his daughter Laura (and then his niece Maddy) answered the show’s biggest question, but didn’t finish the story, because Agent Cooper and Sheriff Truman still hadn’t cracked the case. Season 2, Episode 8: ‘Drive With a Dead Girl’ Below that, I’ve tallied up some of the more inconsequential plotlines, ranked by their negligibility and tediousness. Here, then, are some of the most memorable scenes, stories, images and people from the back half of Season 2, in the episodes where they most stand out. At one point toward the end of the Palmer investigation, Sheriff Harry Truman snaps at Cooper that it’s time to ditch the dream analysis and do some meat-and-potatoes police work, complaining, “I’m tired of the mumbo jumbo.” And to be sure, as “Twin Peaks” lurched to a close, the viewers that stuck around discovered that some “mumbo jumbo” was more necessary than others. ![]() By the end of Season 2, the deep strangeness of David Lynch’s original vision evolved into a superficial kookiness. The episodes covered below display fleeting moments of brilliance, but those moments are peppered throughout story lines that wind on interminably - many of which involve new characters that come across as standard-issue TV drama types. The scattershot second half of Season 2 ended up raising the same question that fans might have asked if they’d been able to see the longer pilot: If “Twin Peaks” isn’t telling the story of Laura Palmer’s murder, then what’s it about? Then “Twin Peaks” aired 13 more episodes, which according to several cast members were only remotely (and too loosely) overseen by the show’s creators, Mark Frost and David Lynch. In the two episodes that followed, the mystery wrapped up for good with the capture, confession and death of Leland Palmer, Bob’s chosen human vessel. On television, the Palmer case was solved for viewers in the harrowing final minutes of an episode that aired on Nov. It ends with an ellipses, not an exclamation point. A lot of what’s in the series originated in the pilot’s longer cut: including Agent Cooper’s “Red Room” dream and the existence of a dark spirit named “Bob.” But the movie doesn’t put all the pieces together. Years later, when that film became more widely available, fans realized it didn’t offer much closure. Season 2, Episodes 8-21ĭuring the brief but intense stretch of time when the American audience for “Twin Peaks” numbered in the tens of millions - all obsessing over who killed Laura Palmer - some frustrated viewers wished they could see the original version of the pilot movie, which gives the mystery an ending.
